Creating a Quick Launch Bar in Window to enhance your efficiency

Quick Launch Bar is a wonderful tool to enhance your efficiency. It’s more convenient than placing your frequently used applications on your desk top. It is easy to put applications to the Quick Launch Bar. You just need to drag-and-drop the icons to the Quick Launch Bar.

Besides putting the application icons from your desktop to the Quick Launch Bar, you can also do it from your program areas, including any icons from “All Programs”.

If you want to put more applications to the Quick Launch Bar, you can expand the bar by:

  1. Right click on the Quick Launch Bar (not on the application icon)
  2. Select the “Lock the Taskbar”. It is a toggle command. When you select it the first time, it unlocks the bar. When you select it again, it locks the bar.
  3. Drag the bar to expand it.
  4. Repeat Step 1 and 2 to lock the bar.

If you don’t use one of the application any more, you can delete the application icon by right click on the application icon and choose “Delete” command. Please note that the “Delete” command only deletes the shortcut but not the application itself. You need to go to the “Control Panel” if you want to uninstall an application.

It’s a bit tricky if you use Windows 7 or later Windows versions. Windows 7 or later versions do not come automatically with a Quick Launch Bar like in Window XP or Vista. You need to manually add that. Microsoft has a web page with full instruction how to do so. The web page is: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/975784.
